Abstract
Diphenylcyclopropenone reacts with 1,3-diphenylisobenzofuran to give a benzotropone derivative 5, with 3-carboalkoxyaziridines to give trans-3-pyrrolines (e.g. 10), and with a 3-cyanoaziridine to give the pyrrole 20. Possible mechanisms of these reactions are considered and compared with previous 1,3-dipolar additions to cyclopropenones.
