Abstract
The solid-wood content of stacked logs is needed as an estimate supplementary to stacked volume on many logging operations where weigh scaling is inconvenient. This estimate is usually found by cube scaling a sample of piles. This note illustrates how the solid-wood content of stacked wood can be estimated using traditional volumetric calculations in such a way as to minimize the sum of scaling costs.
