Abstract
Nuclear radiation spectrometers, made from semi-insulating CdTe chlorine doped and grown by the travelling heater method, show a gradual degradation in performance. The pulse height for all nuclear radiations and the γ-ray efficiency both decrease with time after the collection voltage is applied. A model is outlined in which this polarization behavior is attributed to the slow detrapping of holes (τD ~ 103 s) from deep acceptors of density ~6 × 1011/cm3.
