Fluorinated carbohydrates. Part VI. Studies of derivatives of 3-deoxy-3-fluoro-D-galactose

Abstract

A synthesis of 3-deoxy-3-fluoro-D-galactose from 1,2:5,6-di-O-isopropylidene-α-D-gulofuranose is described. The 1H and 19F n.m.r. spectra of several derivatives of D-galactose and of its 3-deoxy-3-fluoro derivative have been assigned in accord with previously established stereospecific dependencies.
