Abstract
N-Benzoylphenylhydroxylamine precipitates tin quantitatively from stannic chloride solutions; complete precipitation is obtained in solutions varying from 1 to 8% in concentrated hydrochloric acid. The reagent reduces stannic to stannous tin before forming the addition compound (C13H11O2N)2 SnCl2; this compound is stable and may be used as a weighing form for tin. Tin can be determined readily in brasses; copper, lead, and zinc do not interfere.
