Abstract
The overall prevalence of Gnathostoma miyazakii Anderson, 1964 in 368 river otters (Lutra canadensis) from Virginia was 52.45%. Neither sex nor age of otters significantly affected prevalence of G. miyazakii. More (P < 0.005) otters were infected from saltwater areas than from freshwater areas of the state. Kidney weights of infected otters were significantly (P < 0.05) higher than those of noninfected otters.
