Abstract
Two bipolar species of Coprinus are described from alkali lakes of British Columbia, C. amphibius sp. nov. and C. alkalinus sp. nov. Growth of C. alkalinus was found to be sensitive to variations in salt concentration of alkali lake water. Production of fruit bodies by Coprinus alkalinus is dependent on light. A spore color mutant segregating independently of mating types appears to be present in C. alkalinus.
