Abstract
The synthesis of various trifluoroacetoxygermanes has been achieved, including Ge(OCOCF3)4, CH3Ge(OCOCF3)3, (CH3)2Ge(OCOCF3)2, and CF3Ge(OCOCF3)3. These do not decarboxylate to trifluorometliyl germanium compounds, but some of them react with silver trifluoroacetate to form complex trifluoroacetoxygermanates such as Ag2[Ge(OCOCF3)6], Ag2[CH3Ge(OCOCF3)5], and Ag2[CF3Ge(OCOCF3)5].The preparation and properties of trimethyl(trifluoromethyl)germane, (CH3)3GeCF3, are described; differences between it and the analogous tin compound are noted.
