Abstract
We examine the advantages and disadvantages of noncovariant gauges, with special emphasis on the light-cone gauge. We describe the correct iε prescription in this gauge and discuss a number of other technical aspects. The role of the light-cone gauge in connection with Nicolai maps and stochastic quantization is also examined.
