Abstract
Microscope slides, dipped 24 h into cultures of oral bacterium Streptococcus mutans, accumulated up to 66% more bacterial polysaccharide on the side of the slides facing north. Reversal of the magnetic field by 180° caused similar reversal of the preferential accumulation. The process of preferential accumulation becomes saturated at 1.7 gauss [Formula: see text].
