Abstract
A new approach to Doppler velocimetry applicable to speeds greater than 1 m/s is described. The method is based on the phenomenon of spectral modulation of a large bandwidth source, such as a white light source. Spectral modulation is obtained from an interferometer with a path difference larger than the coherence length of the illuminating source. The linear speed of a corner cube prism attached to the rim of a rotating disc has been measured experimentally.[Journal translation]
