Abstract
A Monte-Carlo calculation has been used to simulate antiprotons annihilating (at rest) with the nuclei of the emulsion. Assuming that the final product of the annihilation is pions, the latter can interact with the nucleons to form isobars. The fate of these isobars inside the nucleus determines the ratio of absorbed to scattered pions. Two distinct cases are considered.
