Abstract
The newly discovered pressure narrowing in quadrupole-induced infrared spectra is interpreted as due to diffusion. The effect makes possible the measurement of the diffusion constants in pure H2 and H2 – foreign gas mixtures at high densities by means of infrared absorption.
