Fluorinated Carbohydrates. Part VIII. Studies of Some 3-Deoxy-3-fluoro-D-pyranosyl Fluorides

Abstract

Detailed analyses have been made of the 1H and 19F n.m.r. spectra of the α- and β-anomers of 2,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-3-deoxy-3-fluoro-D-glucopyranosyl fluoride and of 2,4-di-O-acetyl-3-deoxy-3-fluoro-β-D-xylopyranosyl fluoride. The 4JF,F, couplings demonstrate a stereospecific dependence with 4Ja,a = + 10.4, 4Ja,e = + 1.0, and 4Je,e = −3.0 Hz.
