Abstract
Computer programs have been worked out for the calculation of projected ranges of low-energy ions by means of the theory of Lindhard, Scharff, and Schiøtt. The stopping substance is assumed to be a random system, and may consist of several elements. In the case of a monatomic stopping substance, the program includes a calculation of the straggling in projected range. Comparisons are made with measurements of projected ranges, from which semiempirical estimates of electronic stopping may be made.
