Abstract
The infrared absorption spectra of the adducts formed between urea and hydrocarbons from n-heptane to n-hexadecane have been measured in the range 600 cm−1 to 4000 cm−1. From a consideration of the crystal symmetries of urea and the urea-hydrocarbon adducts it has been possible to assign the various vibration frequencies. The band shifts observed are explained in terms of changes in bond lengths and bond angles.
