Abstract
The inductive action of killed Hensen's node and head process of the chick blastoderm upon isolated competent chick ectoderm was studied. Both of these structures elicited neural differentiation in the ectoderm. Killed Hensen's node and head process of the chick, therefore, have an action comparable to that of killed dorsal blastoporal lip of the amphibian gastrula on competent amphibian ectoderm.
