Abstract
Extreme ultraviolet photons of known energy have been used to form CO2+ in specific states of excitation. This technique provides a greatly simplified emission spectrum compared with any other means of excitation. Thus, a number of bands previously observed in high-resolution studies have now been properly identified owing to the simplicity of the present spectra. In addition, the symmetric stretching quantum v1 and the bending quantum v2, for the CO2+X2Πg state have been determined. The value of v1 is only slightly different from that found by Mrozowski. The bending quantum v2 has not been previously reported and is [Formula: see text].
