THE Hg 6(3P1) PHOTOSENSITIZED DECOMPOSITION OF METHYLENECYCLOBUTANE VAPOR

Abstract

The main mode of decomposition, in which at least two biradicals are involved, is a molecular split into ethylene and allene. The pressure dependence of the reaction exhibits some unusual features which may be interpreted by a stepwise collisional removal of vibrational energy from one of the transient biradicals.
