Abstract
By the use of an isolated liver preparation, evidence is presented that the liver is the site of renin substrate (angiotensinogen) synthesis. It is demonstrated that livers from normal rats release substrate, that the release is enhanced by nephrectomy, that the increase after nephrectomy is not accompanied by an increase in labeled proteins in the perfusate and finally that both substrate and total protein synthesis are inhibited by puromycin.
