Abstract
An analysis of the crown morphological measurements of dominant trees of balsam fir and white spruce revealed a strong resemblance between the two. Taking advantage of a statistical relationship between crown width and dbh, we used a linear prediction model to compute the maximum efficiency rate of nominal used space in the stands studied. Once the full natural stocking density had been defined for each stand, their ordination showed the existence of a single yield level. Finally, a single-entry tree volume table to calculate solid volume from dbh is proposed.
