Abstract
A brief history of work performed on the Monogenea of Canadian freshwater fishes is recounted; a list indicating the host – monogenean parasite relationships of Canadian freshwater fishes is included. Dactylogyrus albertensis sp. nov., recovered from the gills of the flathead chub, Hyhopsis gracilis (Richardson), is described. Two additional known parasite species are recorded for Canada: (1) Pseudomurraytrema muelleri Price, 1967, recovered from Catostomus commersoni (Lacépède) and (2) Dactylogyrus banghami Mizelle and Donahue, 1944, recovered from Rhinichthys cataractae (Valenciennes). Hosts were collected from the Milk River in Alberta.
