Abstract
The wavelengths and relative intensities of the rotational lines of the (0–0) band of the O2+b4Σg−–a4Πu first negative system have been recorded photoelectrically with a high-resolution grating spectrometer. The wavelengths compare within 0.02 Å to those established by earlier high-resolution photographic measurements. The relative intensities are compared line-by-line to rotational line strengths computed with 4Σ and 4Π Hamiltonians containing experimentally-obtained molecular constants. For pairs of non-superimposed branches that originate from the same upper levels, the measured and calculated ratios typically agree within 5%, which is well within the experimental uncertainties.
