Abstract

Parallel to the changes which have been described in the metabolism of dormant storage tissue during "aging", a several-fold increase in fatty acid synthetase activity and a change in the pattern of fatty acid synthesis was observed in aging potato disks. These changes occur very early in the aging process. Their significance is discussed.
