Abstract

The conclusions of Laurence and Wojtkowiak concerning the need to treat separately meta and para substituents in correlations between the frequencies νco for substituted acetophenones and the factors σ+ are confirmed. From a sampling of substituents chosen to illustrate best the effect under consideration, we indeed find a significant difference between the coefficients ρp+ and ρm+ at a confidence level greater than 99.9%.[Journal translation]
