Abstract
The embryos of a viviparous sea anemone, Actinia equina, take up glucose at the rate of 16.8 μg/g wet weight per hour and glycine at the rate of 8.2 μg/g wet weight per hour from the seawater. Autoradiographic studies showed that glucose was incorporated in both ectoderm and endoderm tissues whereas glycine was incorporated mostly in ectoderm tissues.
