Abstract
Injection of rabbit antimouse erythrocyte serum into mice results in a complex hemolytic anemia syndrome with erythropenia, splenomegaly, a terminal decrease in blood sugar levels, and death. The intensity of the syndrome while being directly proportional to the antiserum dose is inversely proportional to blood sugar levels at the time of inoculation; thus, within certain limits, the hyperglycemic state partially neutralizes the toxicity of the antiserum.
