Abstract
A review is given of some of the experimental work that has contributed to our present understanding of nuclear magnetism in solid 3He. Bulk properties, such as entropy, magnetization, and melting pressure are discussed briefly, followed by a summary of microscopic investigations using magnetic resonance and neutron scattering. Recent measurements of melting pressures in the high-field phase are presented. The observed T4 dependence of the melting pressure is evidence of an antiferromagnetically ordered state, not just a highly polarized paramagnet. However, the absence of latent heat at the transition into the high-temperature paramagnetic phase indicates that this transition is not first order.
