Abstract
A readily recognized species of the Nidulariaceae is described as Cyathus annulatus Brodie. The fungus is taxonomically related to Cyathus striatuts and to C. helenae, the only other striate or plicate species known to occur in temperate North America. C. annulatus, recognized at present only from the Cypress Hills of Alberta, is characterized chiefly by a distinctive deep-brown ring which colors the inner surface of the lip of the fruit body, and by the shape of the basidiospores, which ranges from spherical to ovoid to elliptical.
