Abstract
Insoluble derivative of streptokinase was prepared by coupling it to diazotized copolymer of p-amino phenyl alanine and leucine. This derivative was incubated with plasminogen, and the mixture was then analyzed for its plasminogen, plasmin, proactivator, and activator contents. It was found that, upon interaction with streptokinase (insoluble), plasminogen disappeared from the mixture, giving rise to plasmin and (or) activator, according to the experimental conditions. The proactivator also disappeared, but its behavior was parallel to the sum of behaviors of plasminogen and plasmin, rather than to the behavior of any one of them alone. The results led to the conclusion that both plasminogen and plasmin may be proactivators in the sense that they may form an activator upon addition of streptokinase.
