Abstract
The peroxidase activity of the plasma of birds with erythroblastosis was closely related to the heme content. Plasma heme proteins were hemoglobin and its derivatives only. The majority of the hemoglobin was found as the hemoglobin–haptoglobin complex, but quantities of free hemoglobin and methemalbumin were also present. The plasma peroxidase level would appear to be an index of the progress of the disease.
