A lower bound to the critical positron mass for binding to a hydrogen atom

Abstract

A lower bound value of 1.51 me, where me is the mass of the electron, is obtained for the critical mass at which a hydrogen atom will just form a bound state with a positron. This is slightly above the previous best lower bound value obtained by Aronson, Kleinman, and Spruch. The method used in the calculation is similar to that used by Aronson et al. except that a lower bound to the required adiabatic potential is calculated by the method of Temple and Kato.
