Abstract
The mineralocorticoid activity of 18-hydroxy-deoxycorticosterone (18-OH-DOC) was compared with that of deoxycorticosterone (DOC) and aldosterone in adrenalectomized adult female dogs. With respect to sodium retention, 18-OH-DOC was approximately five times less potent than DOC and 78 times less potent than aldosterone. With regard to the effect on potassium excretion 18-OH-DOC was 11 times less active than DOC and 615 times less than aldosterone.
