Abstract
Seventeen tests were performed in situ to investigate a part of the enzymatic system of three KB cell lines latently infected by Myxovirus parainfluenzae, type 3, strain EA-102. The activity of 5 hydrolytic and 12 oxidative enzymes is reported. No metabolic change was detected by histoenzymatic techniques in a comparative study of the three KB cell lines latently infected by the virus or in the uninfected KB cells. Furthermore no enzymatic difference was observed between a cell line of neoplastic origin (KB) and a non-neoplastic chorionic cell line (Laval 113). Six of the 17 enzymatic tests were questionable or negative when conducted on primary monkey kidney cells (MK).
