QUANTITATIVE CHROMATOGRAPHIC METHODS: PART 4. STABILIZED CHROMATOGRAPHIC SYSTEMS OF HIGH RESOLVING POWER FOR AMINO ACIDS

Abstract

The development of two paper chromatographic systems of high resolving power for the amino acids is described. Both systems are based on buffered miscible solvents used with buffer impregnated papers. By selection and control of the conditions of operation, the patterns of separation of these systems have been adjusted to yield maximum combined resolution when they are used together as a complementary pair. The general problems and possibilities of attempting to select and refine detailed features of paper chromatographic patterns seem to be well illustrated by the development of these two systems.
