Metal derivatives of azoles. Part VII. Gold(I) derivatives of pyrazoles

Abstract

Ligand displacement by a pyrazole on Me2SAuCl afforded LnAUAuCl (n = 1 or 2, and L = 3,5-Me2pzH, 3(5)-Me-5(3)-PhpzH; n = 1, and L = pyrazole or 3,5-Me2-4-(p-tolylazo)pyrazole), while Ph3PAuCl, silver fluoborate, and ligand gave both [(Ph3P)Au(3,5-Me2pzH)]BF4 and [(Ph3PAu)2(μ-3,5-Me2pz-N,N′)]BF4. With iodine the last compound underwent reaction on the bridging μ-azolato ligand yielding [(Ph3PAu)2(μ-3,5-Me2-4-Ipz-N,N′)]BF4. The possible structures are discussed on the basis of spectral data (ir; 1H, 13C, and 3lP nmr).
