Preparation and absolute stereochemistry of (−)-acenaphthenol

Abstract

1-Acenaphthenol was resolved by fractional crystallization of its camphanate ester followed by hydrolysis. The absolute stereochemistry of the (+)-camphanate and (−)-alcohol, derived therefrom, was established as (R) by X-ray crystallography.
