Sand Control Completion Design, Installation and Performance of High Rate Gas Wells in the Jupiter Field

Robert C. Burton and Stuart A. Boggan, Conoco Abstract This paper provides a review of sand control completion design, installation and subsequent well performance in the Jupiter Field. The paper reviews formation failure predictions used to assess the need for sand control and discusses the completion designs selected to prevent sand production in a series of high rate gas wells. Completion installation, consisting of running pre-packed screens into the drilled hole, wellbore clean-up and initial well testing is also discussed. A review of long term sand control effectiveness and completion pressure loss data for these wells is also presented. P. 149
