Abstract

Abstract To reduce cost while maintaining and improving the level of safety is a challenge throughout the well life cycle. An operator has a wide variety of technical, operating and organizational challenges in all phases, and the in the current market it is of increasing importance to optimize cost and improve planning and execution of well operations. Well integrity & reliability management play an important role in this. Closing the data collection loop between operational phase and the early phases gives reduced cost. Challenges and solutions to efficient data collection and sharing of quality reliability data is discussed in the article. The article describes how the loop between operation and design phase can be closed more efficiently with new software technology. The article includes examples of collection and use of operational data and how they shared between life cycle phases. The article also gives examples from the NCS of results obtained when succeeding in collecting operational data and how the data is used as a contribution in optimizing field layout, design robust wells, functional testing to demonstrate reliability and optimize test interval.
