Abstract
SUMMARY
In this paper it is shown that CO2 can effectively displace oil from diatomite under countercurrent conditions. A simple model is presented which quantitatively matches the observed oil production. CO2 is postulated to contact the oil due primarily to diffusive transport, and the diffusion coefficient used is consistent with the results of CT scan experiment conducted to measure the liquid phase diffusion coefficient in diatomite.
