1. (1) Except as provided in subdivision (c), a person commits the crime of “criminal storage of a firearm of the first degree” if he or she keeps any loaded firearm within any premise which is under his or her custody or control and he or she knows or reasonably should know that a child is likely to gain access to the firearm without the permission of the child's parent or legal guardian and the child gains access to the firearm and thereby causes death or great bodily injury to himself, herself, or any other person
2. California Penal Code Section 1274, Sexual Abuse [WIC Section 300 (d)]. (a) A minor may be adjudged a dependent child of the court if: “The minor has been sexually abused, or there is a substantial risk that the minor will be sexually abused, as defined in Section 11165.1 of the Penal Code, by his or her parent or guardian or a member of his or her household, or the parent or guardian has failed to adequately protect the minor from sexual abuse when the parent or guardian knew or reasonably should have known that the minor was in danger of sexual abuse.”
3. California Penal Code Section 273. (a) includes within its terms a person who “willfully causes or permits [a] child to be placed in such situation that its person or health is endangered.”
4. California Vehicle Code Section 27360.5. Use of safety belt for child (a) No parent or legal guardian, when present in a private passenger motor vehicle as defined in Section 27315, shall permit his or her child or ward who is four years of age or older but less than 16 years of age and weighs more than 40 pounds to be transported upon a highway in the motor vehicle without providing and properly using, for each child or ward, a safety belt meeting applicable federal motor vehicle safety standards
