Abstract
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">The Piston is one of the most arduously loaded components in an IC engine. It is subjected to multiple loads simultaneously such as cylinder pressure, temperature loads, inertial loads & side-thrust loads. The durability of the Piston can be modelled accurately, only by accounting all the loads acting on the Piston. The challenge is, this approach requires information from multiple disciplines such as temperatures from CFD, Piston secondary forces from Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD) analysis and P-theta (Pressure vs Crank angle) curve from the experimental measurements. In this study, the life of the Piston and the damage location is predicted by using temperature dependent material properties and the above-mentioned loads.</div></div>
