Abstract
Objective: Considering the characteristics of the adolescent age, it is known that adolescents are vulnerable to the negative effects of the internet and are highly susceptible to internet addiction. In this study, it was aimed to determine the internet addiction levels of adolescents and effective factors.
Method: The 798 students in secondary schools in Erzurum city center participated in this cross-sectional study. Personal information form and Young Internet Addiction Scale were used to collect study data.
Results: In the study, 18.9% of the adolescents (F: 20.6%, M: 17.1%) were pathological internet users. Participants use the internet most often to film / video, etc. used for monitoring (16.9%), social media (16.1%) and education and/or research (15.6%).
