Staged, Nonlinear Optical, Beam-Combining: Key Ingredients in New Excimer Laser System for Inertial Fusion Energy (IFE)

Abstract

We propose using three staged, seeded nonlinear optical (NLO) amplifiers to spatially and temporally compress tens of megajoules of microsecond KrF (or ArF) laser pulses down to nanosecond scale to enable laser-driven Inertial Fusion Energy.
