Optical Input – Optical Output Logic Gates Using Ring Modulator and Photovoltaic Diodes

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate optical input – optical output logic gates using ring modulators and bias-less stacked photodiodes operating in the photovoltaic mode. The proposed structure is implemented in a commercial silicon photonics foundry.
