Limits of Thermal Emission from Vertically Aligned Carbon Nanotubes Stimulated by a Nanosecond Pulsed Laser

Abstract

We show repetitive heating of carbon nanotubes at high laser fluence degrades the material due to oxidation. We also demonstrate laser heating of nanotubes in an oxygen-free atmosphere increases the degradation threshold fluence by 50%.
