Abstract
Oscillatory potentials (OPs) are small electroretinographic (ERG) wavelets that occur on the rising phase of the ERG b-wave. Thought to originate as a feedback circuit involving the bipolar, amacrine and possibly ganglion cell layers of the retina1, the potential clinical utility of OPs in diseases that preferentially affect the inner retina has long been acknowledged.2Recently, OPs were shown to be much more sensitive predictors of the development of high risk characteristics in diabetic retinopathy than were fundus features graded using the ETDRS (Early Treatment of Diabetic Retinopathy Study) classification scheme3.
