Abstract
The S cone visual pathway is characterized by poor spatial and temporal resolution, and relatively low sensitivity to light.1,3 In addition, S-pathway sensitivity loss occurs in a number of ocular diseases.4 While psychophysical techniques are typically used to specify this loss, direct measures of S-pathway integrity are lacking. Pattern-evoked cortical potentials (PECPs) may provide a sensitive, objective index of S-pathway function.5,6 This report describes spectral, spatial and temporal properties of the S-pathway PECP. Applications of this approach are considered.
