Theoretical Basis for A new Method of Reflection Oximetry and its Application to Retinal Vessels

Abstract

This paper proposes a new photometric method for the in-vivo measurement of hemoglobin oxygen saturation (OS) in retinal vessels and presents its theoretical basis. This method is based on the measurement of the Doppler shifted light that has been backscattered by the red blood cells moving in individual vessels.
