Abstract
A dynamically tunable reconfigurable metasurface in the terahertz (THz) band combined with the phase-change material vanadium dioxide (VO2) is proposed. Through theoretical and simulation study, the dynamic tunable reconfigurable metasurface designed in this paper works in the wide band of 1.09–2.13 THz frequency, and the polarization conversion ratio of the metasurface can reach more than 95%. Further, the relative bandwidth can reach more than 74%, and it still has good performance after the phase transformation of VO2. A metasurface coded with 3 bits and a special phase arrangement can control the electromagnetic wavefront, generate orbital angular momentum, focus vortices, reflect anomalously, and achieve radar cross section reduction. Therefore, the proposed metasurface has potential applications in secure communication, near-field imaging, wireless transmission, etc.
